Kokomo

Yep, just Kokomo.

For Every Up there is a Down

I am remembering one of the philosophies my father used to tell me:

For every up there is a down
For every down there is an up
For every left there is a right
For every right there is a left
If we never had cold weather we would never appreciate the warm weather
If we were always happy how would we know sadness and
If we were always sad how could we know happiness
How can we appreciate the sun without having rain
How can we be successful if we never fail

He would go on and on at different times about different philosophies that were all similar. If you really stop and think about it, it is very true.

So the next time you are feeling sad and desperate, just remember that you are going to feel happy and exuberant again some day.

Life is what you make it, or is it?

How are things going in your life? Is everything in place? Are your plans panning out? Are you accomplishing your goals? Are you happy?

I remember the song "All I have to do is Dream" by the Everly Brothers. While the song is about a desire to be with someone, it can fit into other areas of life. How bad do you want to achieve your goals? Aren't your goals a dream until they come true? Don't we all feel like the song says, sometimes we feel like we are dreaming our life away when goals seem to be so far away?

Sometimes a goal slips away because someone realizes their goal was set too high, or was it? If the goal was set to high, then how can it be a goal?

I challenge you to dream and to one day live your dreams. You have your whole life ahead of you and if you do not try to accomplish your goals then what will you have to be proud of?

It kind of goes along with the saying that the stupidest question is the one that is never asked. If you never ask the question then how will you get your answer. If you never dream, then how will you set goals, if you do not have goals, then what are you waiting for? Start dreaming.

I challenge you to make a list of goals right now from your dreams. Write down a list of goals and look them over, decide which one is the most important to you and put it a the top and then rank the rest of your dreams the same way.

I am sure that once you start realizing your dreams are coming true through your goals that you will be dreaming all the time. There is nothing wrong with dreaming. It is what makes the world go round and keeps us from being bored.

Looking for a Job?

So you are looking for a job are you? Join the other 4.5 million folks in the country who are looking for a job right now. I, myself have been out of gainful employment for coming up on 3 years in March. I have held jobs over this three year period, but nothing compared to the salary and benefits I held at my job in 2006 before I was laid off. The problem now is that you will be competing among these 4.5 million or more people out of a job for the jobs you are applying for. Perhaps you need to find a way to put an edge into your resume to make you stand out among the rest of those applying. Each individual is different so it is up to you to figure out what makes you stand out in front of the crowd and put it into your resume.

Perhaps a little more umph is what you need. How about a dossier? I thought about that and I am actually in the process of pulling one together. A dossier is better because it will help you detail your knowledge, skills, and abilities for each job you have held in the past. I had a hard copy dossier pulled together in the past but it just does not fit into today's electronic era. I considered setting up a web page of documents for potential employers to review but then there would be no catalyst to get them to it. So now I am working on setting up a blog delineating my knowledge, skills, and abilities for each job I have held in my life time with links to documents that I have posted or will post on the internet that will back up my claims. I plan on modifying my resume to include links to my blog where the prospective employer can read more about my knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Happy New Year 2009!?!?!?!?!

Happy New Year!?!?!?!?!?!

I wish to take this opportunity to wish my readers a happy and prosperous new year. May you reach your goals for 2009 and my your wealth be restored.

Wealth is not always about money, even though money does make life easier, but does it really? Is it all about money? I heard on the news last night that a lot of bartering is going on since money is tight, so learn to barter. I am sure you have a skill or material object that you would be willing to trade to someone else for a skill or material object they have. It only makes good perfect sense. I hear that Craig's List has a lot of listings on it right now for bartering.
